Bärbel Georgi's remarkable equine portraits are exciting horse fans everywhere. Born in Germany and educated in Australia, Bärbel finds that many people are astonished by the realism of her paintings and the richness of their tones. The answer is, she says, simple. "When I am commissioned to paint a horse, I observe, photograph and sketch the animal to make certain I know the full extent of not only its colouring and markings, but also its character, " she says. "I always seem to find something different when I study each photograph and sketch." |

Over recent years Bärbel
has received commissions from racing clubs and several of Australia's most
successful owners. Her work has been sold through galleries in Melbourne and Sydney and at art shows around the country and in New Zealand. Several of her portraits now hang in private collections overseas. She has also exhibited her paintings at famous Australian race courses such as Flemington, Caulfield, Ascot and Moonee Valley. |

A keen rider and horse
owner herself, Bärbel lives at Macedon, a small country town about 40
minutes drive from Melbourne, the capital of Victoria. Bärbel paints pleasure and performance horses of all disciplines, and can provide prints, placemats, coasters, mouse mats and T-shirts showing the image of your favourite horse. |
